Hohenwerfen Castle is a medieval rock castle situated on a 623-meter (2,044 ft) precipice overlooking the Austrian market town of Werfen in the Salzach valley, approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of Salzburg. The fortress is surrounded by the Berchtesgaden Alps and the adjacent Tennen Mountains. Hohenwerfen is a “sister” of Hohensalzburg Fortress, both built by the Archbishops of Salzburg in the 11th century.

The Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus) is a historic watchtower in Bavaria, offering breathtaking views of the Alps at an elevation of 1,834 meters. Built in 1938 as a gift for Adolf Hitler’s 50th birthday, it is accessible through a 124-meter long tunnel that leads to a magnificently decorated elevator, taking you up to the interior of the building.
